Sunita Thakur leads the school day to day.

Principal Sunita Thakur runs Adarsh Public Smart School for Adarsh Bal Sudhar Sangh. She confirms every admission, and the timetable, the teachers and the school calendar all answer to her office.

She is a visible part of the school year. She lit the torch at the Annual Sports Meet alongside Chairperson Anil Thakur and spoke to the children about why sport and games matter. She sees off each Class VIII batch at their farewell, and thanked the doctors and staff who ran a free medical check-up camp on campus.

The school she leads has kept its small-school habits while adding smart rooms, hybrid lessons, day boarding and the Eduflask app for parents.

A letter to parents

Dear parents,

When you bring your child to Sector 20-B, you are trusting us with the most important hours of their day. We take that seriously. Our classes are kept small so that every teacher knows each child — their handwriting, their temper, the day they are quiet and the reason why.

We want children to speak English with confidence, to read for pleasure, and to work neatly and honestly. But a school is more than marks. Sports, festivals, assemblies and small duties teach children how to share a room with other people, and those lessons stay longest.

Safety is part of that care. We hold fire drills with the Chandigarh Fire Department, keep a watchful, supervised day, and offer day boarding for families whose working hours run long.

The school

Still in Sector 20-B.

The campus sits in Sector 20-B, a short walk from Jama Masjid, and runs as a day school with day boarding and transport across Chandigarh and the Tricity.

What has changed over the years is the kit: hybrid lessons, a searchable library, smart rooms, a maths lab. What has not is the size of the promise. Qualified teachers, an affordable fee, handwriting that is still taught, and a calendar that includes Teej, Baisakhi, mangoes and a proper farewell for Class VIII.
